Mother. Leader. Neighbor.
Primary September 13th
I have been blessed to live in Mahopac, NY for over 50 years. I graduated from Mahopac High School and a few years later married the love of my life, Jimmy McDonough. Together, Jimmy and I owned and operated successful businesses in the Hudson Valley started our family and have five amazing children.
Giving back to my community has always been an important part of my life. While my children were young, I coached basketball and softball, was a den mother for the Boy Scouts, became the Director of the St. John’s CYO basketball program and was a team leader for the Relay for Life.
In 2004, my life took a very unexpected turn. My dad died in July and my husband was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed seven months later in February of 2005. Despite these hardships, I was blessed to have my community, family, and friends rally around me and my children and, because of that I became stronger than I ever have been. Now, everyday, I do as much as I can, help everyone I can and truly try to make a difference.
Currently, I help run a non-profit organization that helps families deal with the diagnosis of cancer, I am a coach for the Special Olympics, continue to participate in the Relay for Life, provide scholarships to several Mahopac High School Seniors, act as a Town Board member in the Town of Carmel and formerly worked for the NYS Senate.
